Lakeside Cottage Accommodations Just 5 Minutes North Of Balfour - Kootenay Lake BC
The cozy cottage is at the end of a quiet no-thru road, on the shores of the sheltered Queens Bay, the warmest water in Kootenay Lake laps at this beach. The cottage is 30 minutes between Nelson and Kaslo, and just a few minutes North of the Balfour Ferry Terminal.
The fully equipped cottage has a full kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, microwave and a BBQ. There is a full bathroom with a large shower. Everything that you need will be waiting for you, including all bedding, linens and towels… if there is something more you require, just ask.
We completed a major renovation on this 700 square foot cottage in the Spring of 2016 using all new appliances, cabinets and fixtures. There are two bedrooms – one with a queen bed that faces the lake and the other with two single beds – plus there is a foldout futon couch in the living room that overlooks the lake. The inside of the cottage is wood accented and bright with large windows to take in the lake view. You can watch the sun and moon rise over the Purcell Mountains while the ferry passes in front as it travels between Balfour and Crawford Bay.
Relax on the large deck, listening for the Loons calling in the bay, then walk across the lawn which is almost level with the beach and enjoy a refreshing swim in the warm waters of Queens Bay.
Head out and explore what the area has to offer. There are spectacular golf courses just minutes away, or soak in the mineral waters at Ainsworth Hot Springs, spelunk at Cody Caves Provincial Park, hire a fishing charter or hike, mountain bike or zip-line… so many opportunities are nearby so please ask for a “Daytrip Distance and Info sheet” to be sent to you. At the end of a day full of Kootenay style adventures, dine at any one of the excellent restaurants or pubs in the area. Then come home to peace and quiet and an evening of telling stories around your campfire on the beach.
Day trips north and south of you include the heritage City of Nelson, or head to the village of Kaslo (known as Canada’s prettiest city) to the north where you will find even more shops, restaurants and stunning views. Treat yourself to a cruise on the world’s longest free ferry ride, from Balfour to the East Shore, to explore more unique artisan studios and shops, and places to golf, hike and explore.
Everything that you need will be waiting for you, including WIFI all bedding, linens and towels… if there is something more you require, just ask. A carefree stay at Queens Bay Hideaway is provided by your hosts Darrell & Chloe Van Horne as they have done with their other lakefront rental in Kaslo (Kootenai Hideaway) since 2004. Please feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have about the cottage or the area and all of its activities.
